Jose Chardiet

Chardiet focuses on designing and making glass sculpture using blowing, casting, painting and electroplating processes. Drawing from topics as diverse as Spanish still-life paintings, woodwind instruments, and African art, Chardiet's goal is to create sculptures imbued with a spiritual inner life. Using the natural transparency and translucency of the material allows the viewer to look beyond the surface, to get to the core or soul of the sculpture. His bold sensuous shapes and pungent sense of color narrate the cultural sensibilities of his Cuban heritage.
